MLSDP calls to establish a labour union in Maldives

Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) has called to establish a labour union in Maldives.

In a press statement, MLSDP highlighted the importance of labour unions in Maldives to protect labourers from political discrimination and all forms of illegal and unfair action. MLSDP expressed alarm over the increased number of reports of pressure, penalties and suspensions against employees.

Moreover, MLSDP noted there were several termination of employees over political differences. MLSDP urged all labourers to unite and establish unions to eliminate such unlawful actions.

Furthermore, the newly formed political party assured of political and legal assistance to any worker who is unlawfully penalised or terminated.
