PPM-PNC to hold joint primaries for 9 constituencies

Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and People's National Congress (PNC) have announced to hold joint primaries to select candidates for the upcoming parliamentary election. The two parties are jointly fielding candidates for nine constituencies.

Speaking about the primaries, PPM said it has been decided to hold primaries as multiple candidates have expressed interest to compete for 9 constituencies. In this regard, 28 individuals have expressed interest to contest from PPM-PNC for Makunudhoo, Nolhivaram, Alifushi, Thulusdhoo, Felidhoo, Keyodhoo, Mulah, Kimbidhoo and North Fuvahmulah.

Members of both parties are eligible to vote in the party primaries scheduled for Friday. Polling would take place at the party headquarters in Male' and the constituencies. While primaries have been scheduled for Fridays to jointly select candidates for the nine constituencies, PPM has already awarded tickets to 63 candidates.

Deadline for nominating candidates for the April 6 polls come to a close on February 21.
