Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) has expressed support to the presidential address delivered by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, noting several initiatives indicated in the party charter were highlighted.
In a statement made public shortly after the presidential address, MLSDP mentioned it welcomes the decision of the administration to collect progressive income tax from next year onwards. Income tax will put a stop to corruption and illegal gains, according to MLSDP.
Furthermore, the party also welcomed the efforts of the administration to allocate a minimum wage, adding discussions with all sectors are crucial before finalising an amount. Appreciating the importance given in the presidential address in ensuring peace and judicial reform, MLSDP assured of cooperation with the administration.
