President conveys appreciation for the continuous support and assistance provided by Malaysia

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has conveyed appreciation for the continuous support and assistance provided to the people of Maldives by the Government of Malaysia over the years, emphasising in particular, the generous extension of education opportunities for Maldivians from Malaysia. He made the statement during the ceremony held at the President’s Office, for the new Ambassador of Malaysia to Maldives Tan Yang Thai to formally present his credentials.

At the ceremony, President Solih congratulated Tan Yang Thai on his ambassadorial appointment and expressed confidence the friendly relations that has marked bilateral ties between the Maldives and Malaysia will continue to prosper during his tenure. Noting the excellent people to people contact between the two countries, the president referred to the fact that Malaysia hosts one of the largest Maldives’ populations overseas.

Speaking during the call, the ambassador expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm and traditional welcome he received upon arriving to the Maldives. He noted that he looks forward to further enhancing cooperation with Maldives during his tenure.

During the call, the president asked the ambassador to convey his regards to Mahatir Mohamed, Prime Minister of Malaysia.
