President decides to establish a corporation to ensure affordable housing for Maldivians

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has decided to establish a 100% state owned corporation, Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation Limited (FDCL), to ensure affordable housing for Maldivians. The president made the decision upon advisory from the Economic Council.

The corporation will be mandated with all the tasks related to social housing in all parts of the country, initiated under efforts to ensure affordable housing to Maldivians. The social housing projects of the government will be conducted by the corporation in the future, according to the President’s Office.

The projects conducted by the corporation will be held with regard to the housing needs assessment currently underway to ensure affordable housing is provided fairly. In this regard, the administration aims to ensure all necessary facilities under the affordable housing projects.
