Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has congratulated newly appointed Honorary Consul of Maldives in Istanbul Halil Ibrahim Bacaci and newly appointed Honorary Consul of Germany Sanjay Ibrahim Manik.
During the meeting with Honorary Consul of Maldives in Istanbul Halil Ibrahim Bacaci, the foreign minister expressed hope for closer bilateral and economic relations, especially in tourism sector. He further expressed hope for improved consular services to Maldivians travelling to Istanbul.
Moreover, during the meeting with newly appointed Honorary Consul of Germany Sanjay Ibrahim Manik, the foreign minister highlighted the importance of German market to the Maldivian tourism sector. He noted Germany is a major contributor to the tourism sector, accounting for 8.9% of 2018 arrivals.
Further, Minister Shahid expressed hope for closer relations, especially in tourism and other economic sectors.
