President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met island council members of Angolhitheem in Raa Atoll.
At the meeting held at the President's Office, the council members shared information regarding the island developmental plans and informed the president of the services the island needed and the challenges the island faces.
Members of the council also shared information regarding the staff shortage the island council faces, the water and sewerage projects carried out by the council and the harbour repair project planned for the island. They also expressed concern about the difficulties faced in providing healthcare services in the island.
The council also requested the president to facilitate the construction of a museum in the island to promote local tourism and to display cultural items.
At the meeting, President Solih assured discussions would be held with relevant authorities regarding the concerns raised by the council. He also assured the projects earmarked for the island in the state budget, would proceed as planned.
