Norway interested to explore further avenues to cooperate and invest in Maldives

Norwegian Ambassador to Maldives Thorbjørn Gaustadsæther has revealed the Government of Norway is interested in exploring further avenues to cooperate and invest in Maldives, such as in the field of ocean affairs, marine litters, waste management and clean energy.

During a courtesy call on Foreign Secretary of Maldives Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed, Norwegian Ambassador Gaustadsæther stressed the importance of small countries to work together, especially in addressing common challenges, such as protection of the environment, sustainable use of resources, climate change adaptation, both bilaterally and at various multilateral fora.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both the ambassador and the foreign secretary held discussions on strengthening the existing bilateral engagement between Maldives and Norway.

The foreign secretary expressed appreciation for Norway’s active engagement and support to Maldives and conveyed hope for strengthened ties between Norway and Maldives.
