Obstructions to judiciary need to be eliminated: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi has revealed the reform agenda of the judiciary can only be implemented once obstructions are eliminated along with political propaganda.

Addressing the ceremony held to inaugurate the Conference on Judicial Inspection and Reform, Chief Justice Ahmed Abdulla Didi questioned where the independence ensured by the constitution is. He stated it is crucial to implement an independent judiciary for the future development and for the people.

Furthermore, Chief Justice Ahmed Abdulla Didi thanked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for initiating the judiciary reform agenda and for the priority given to judiciary reform. He further expressed hope all courts of law will be functioned independently without influence.

Noting the judges are independent by law, the chief justice called to refrain from actions and decisions which demean the whole judiciary.

The two-day Conference on Judicial Inspection and Reform is a two-day is held on the theme Independence of Judges and Courts of Law.
