ACC investigating bribery cases against candidates

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has revealed investigations are underway on three cases of bribery against candidates competing in parliamentary elections.

Speaking to media regarding the preparations for the parliamentary elections, ACC representative in the National Advisory Committee formed for the parliamentary elections, Muawwiz Rasheed said certain rules, regulations and disciplinary rules are established for candidates to follow.

The vice president of the ACC said three cases have been submitted to the committee for violating such rules. Speaking more about the cases, Muawwiz revealed investigation into one case has been concluded, adding the allegations mentioned in the case took place before the candidate announced his candidacy and therefore the issue does not fall within the set regulations. Moreover, he added investigation into a second case is underway, while information is being collected on a third case. He revealed a special investigation team has been formed to investigate cases related to parliamentary elections.
