President calls for assistance from cabinet to speed up legislative matters

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has asked for assistance from the cabinet to solve the issue of failing to meet the quorum needed at parliament to vote on certain important bills.

The appeal from the president comes in the wake of repeated failed attempts by the parliament to meet the quorum needed at parliament to vote on motions that seek to grant legal powers to the various presidential commissions formulated by the current administration.

Addressing the matter, Spokesperson of the President's Office Ibrahim Hood said President Solih made the appeal at a cabinet meeting. He added the president shared his concerns regarding the delay in granting certain powers to presidential commissions.

The president expressed his sorrow that friction from the parliament is restricting the administration from delivering on the presidential pledges, which would in turn better the lives of citizens, according to the spokesperson.
