Maldives and Belgium discuss ways to further consolidate ties

Belgium and Maldives have discussed ways to further consolidate ties between the two countries. The discussions were held during the ceremony held to present the credential of new Ambassador of Belgium to Maldives Franҫois Delhave to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.

After a brief ceremony, the president and the ambassador discussed ways to further consolidate friendly ties between the two countries. President Solih expressed desire that Belgium and the Maldives increase international cooperation, reiterating administration's commitment to progress on the issues of human rights, climate change and good governance. The president welcomed the prospect of cooperation with Belgium on these important spheres.

Furthermore, the president highlighted the European Union (EU) policy dialogue will be held later this month and Maldives will host the partnership forum in June. The president conveyed hopes these dialogues will pave the way for constructive engagements between Belgium and Maldives and facilitate investment and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the ambassador reciprocated the president's positive sentiments and expressed his desire to build on existing positive relations during his ambassadorial tenure.
