Maldives express hope to enhance close ties with Bulgaria

Maldives have expressed sincere hope the close and friendly ties that exist with Bulgaria will continue to strengthen in the days ahead.

The statement was made in a message sent to Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria Ekaterina Zaharieva on the occasion of the Liberation Day of Bulgaria. In the message, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid extended warm greetings and good wishes to the government and the people of Bulgaria.

The liberation of Bulgaria refers to those events of the Russo-Turkish War from 1877 to 1878 that led to the re-establishment of the Bulgarian state under the Treaty of San Stefano on March 3, 1878.
