Public can be protected when police force is strengthened: Home Minister

Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla has said the rights of general public can be ensured and protected, as much as the police force is strengthened. The home minister made the remarks speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the Police Reform Symposium 2019.

After inaugurating the symposium, Home Minister Imran expressed hope the symposium will strengthen the relations between the public and the police and serve as a platform to encourage police personnel to enhance the services.

Reminding the police force the job is not to show power against public, the home minister stated one main effort exerted must be to retrain the trust of the citizens towards the police force. Noting there are many capable individuals within the police force, the minister called to refrain from any activity which may end their careers and reminded to refrain from exterior influence and corruption.

The minister said the government will pave way for the police force to conduct their jobs. He appreciated the service of the police force.
