New Indian Ambassador calls on Foreign Minister

The new Ambassador of India to Maldives Sunjay Sudhir called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Shahid congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and exchanged views over ways in which the renewed dynamism in Maldives-India relationship can be sustained and further strengthened.

Furthermore, Minister Shahid and Ambassador Sudhir discussed the various milestones achieved in the bilateral relationship between India and Maldives, since President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih took office in November 2018, the highlights of which were Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Maldives to attend the inauguration ceremony and the state visit by President Solih to India in December 2018. These visits have set the framework for future engagements, the minister and the ambassador agreed.

Ambassador Sudhir thanked the minister for the warm welcome and conveyed his commitment to working closely with the government and people of the Maldives in achieving the mutual interests of both countries.
