Parliament has approved Ismail Habeeb as a member of Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM). Ismail Habeeb was approved as an ECM member unanimously with the votes of 58 members.
In the timeframe given to submit applications to apply as a member of ECM, 16 individuals submitted the application forms. President's Office ranked the names and forwarded the list to the Parliament for approval. After the vetting process, Committee on Independent Institution gave the highest marks to Ismail Habeeb, who is currently serving as a member of the commission.
A member for ECM was approved, as Ismail Habeeb's five-year term at the electoral body will end on March 13.
