Maldives Police Service has revealed it is investigating allegations against Governor of Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Ahmed Naseer.
However, the police refused to give any more details about the case. It has been reported the case was filed by former Head of Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) at MMA Abdulla Ashraf. Ashraf accuses Naseer of heading the efforts to remove him from his position as Head of FIU, when a money laundering case was filed against former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Naseer has also been summoned to the parliament in connection with investigations into the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption scandal.
