Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed electric buses will be introduced in Male' City.
In February this year, government handed over the operation of mini buses in Male' City to MTCC. The state-owned company is required to operate buses that can accommodate 24 passengers at once, while the vehicles must be environment-friendly.
Speaking about the project, CEO of MTCC Hassan Shah revealed electric buses will be introduced to provide minibus services in the capital city. Noting electric buses are new to Maldives, Shah added discussions are underway with relevant authorities.
As per the agreement, MTCC must introduce minibus to Male' within 120 days. Even though a figure was not mentioned in the agreement, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation said MTCC must commence the services with at least 20 minibuses.
