A total of 34 parties have expressed interest to create the master plan and detail design of the International Port to be developed at Thilafushi in Kaafu Atoll.
While the deadline for submitting expressions of interest came to a close on Sunday, 34 applications were submitted, which are now under evaluation, according to the Ministry of Finance. Those who submitted EOIs include local and foreign companies. After evaluation the EOIs which score the most points would be invited to submit bids.
Changing the main international port in Male’ City to Thilafushi is a pledge of the current administration. At the Presidential Address delivered during the first sitting of the first session of Parliament this year, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih vowed to start practical work on developing a modern port in Thilafushi, by end of the year.
