Addu Tertiary Hospital to be completed in 5 months

Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has stated the tertiary standard hospital developed in Hithadhoo in Addu City will be handed over to Ministry of Health within 5 months.

The government handed over the task of supply, delivery and installation of furniture, machinery and equipment to Medtech Maldives Private Limited. The agreement of the venture was signed by Permanent Secretary at planning ministry Zeeniya Ahmed and CEO of Medtech Ahmed Haikal.

The project is expected to cost over USD 12 million. Under the agreement, Medtech will supply, install, and test the machinery and equipment, in addition to conducting training programmes for the staff.

The equatorial convention centre developed for the 17th SAARC Summit held in Addu is now being developed as a tertiary hospital at a cost of over USD 21 million. The 100-bed hospital development project is contracted to Alia Construction Private Limited.

The hospital will be equipped with resources required to cope with the major problems in the health sector of the region. The tertiary level hospital is expected to bring revolutionary advancements to the health sector service in the southern region of the country.
