Maldives Qualifications Authority (MQA) has revealed work has commenced to audit higher education centres in Maldives.
Speaking to PSM News, CEO of MQA Dr. Abdul Hannan Waheed said so far 2 universities and 10 colleges have undergone an academic audit. Highlighting academic audits take time and is a hard task, Dr. Hannan said MQA audits have general 7 items, including administrative arrangements, equipment and programmes. Hannan revealed the academic audit will bring positive changes to the education sector, adding while the audit is to be held routinely, it will be broadened in the future. Hannan expressed hope to publish the results of the audits, while rating colleges and universities at the same time.
The academic audit on higher education centres is conducted by a special panel formed by MQA. The authority initiated the academic audit in 2017, aiming to assure quality of education sector.
