Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has decided to conduct projects to establish water and sewerage facilities and develop harbours with the assistance from OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID).
In this regard, OFID will fund projects to establish safe water facilities in 7 islands, sewerage facilities in 8 islands and develop harbours in 5 islands. The projects in the 20 islands will cost USD 14.52 million.
Earlier, Export–Import Bank of India has also decided to finance projects to establish water and sewerage facilities in 35 islands.
