President meets Veymandoo Island Council

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has met with the members of the Veymandoo Island Council of Thaa Atoll.

At the meeting held at the President’s Office, council members briefed the president on the most urgent needs of the island’s residents and shared their concerns. The members also noted certain basic utility services still remained incomplete, and the island’s harbour could not accommodate the high number of visitors to the island every day. Further, they raised the issue of undeveloped roads, without proper drainage systems.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih said the administration accords high priority to resolving the issues faced by the people. He also highlighted the reform measures being taken by the administration in empowering the local councils fully, and strengthening the decentralised system of governance.
