Break water system to stop rusting of bridge to conclude next month

Embassy of China in Maldives has revealed the break water system developed at the airport end of the Sinamale' Bridge will be concluded next month.

Speaking to media regarding the Chinese projects in Maldives, First Secretary at the Embassy said China is currently conducting 3 projects in Maldives, while four other projects are conducted with financial assistance of China. The biggest ever infrastructure project conducted in Maldives, Sinamale' Bridge, was opened for traffic last September.

Highlighting the maintenance works of the bridge are conducted by a Chinese company, First Secretary at the Chinese Embassy said the breakwater system constructed will be concluded in May. Noting the biggest challenge faced in maintaining the bridge is continuous rusting, he added the breakwater is expected to solve many issues faced in maintaining the infrastructure. He revealed laboratory observations are underway by some research institutes of China of an anti-corrosion coating.
