Ministry of Economic Development has revealed 14 business entities have been granted permission to operate for 24 hours. The economic ministry revealed it includes 10 cafés and restaurants, and 4 shops.
The café' and restaurants given permission to operate 24 hours are Sea House at Hulhumale' Ferry Terminal, Saffron Café, Nice and Spice, Weaver café, Retreat Delight at Food Court, Maarukeytu Hotaa, Nouvelle Café and Bistro, and Dolphin View Café in the carnival area. Moreover, MT Canteen run by Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) and South Wing Café in Maldives Business School are also permitted to run 24 hours.
The four shops given permits are Express Mart at Villingili Ferry Terminal, New Chain, Shop and Save and ANG Traders.
Establishments will only be granted permission to operate 24 hours, if the places meet hygienic requirements, have installed cameras and must prohibit smoking.
In January, economic ministry allocated a total of 13 areas to operate 24 hours businesses.
