Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has revealed assistance of Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) is required to develop Islamic education, science and culture in Maldives. The education minister made the statement at the third extraordinary session of ISESCO General Conference.
Noting the government prioritises developing the sector, Minister Aishath Ali noted the Maldivian government seeks financial and technical support of ISESCO to further develop the sector. In this regard, the minister shed light on the initiations of the current government towards developing the sector, likewise highlighting the formation of the new Ministry of Heritage, Arts and Culture and Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology. Furthermore, the minister said a trust fund has been established aiming at protecting artefacts that symbolise the heritage of the country.
Maldives joined ISESCO in 1982. With 54 member states, ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science and culture.
