Fenaka Corporation Limited has revealed plans to provide water supply in two islands to solve difficulties in attaining clean water for households. In this regard, Fenaka will provide water in Hoarafushi in Haa Alifu Atoll and Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll from Thursday onwards.
Water supply facilities have been established in both islands. However, the systems were not activated as the islands do not have the tools to study the water supplied is safe and clean. Fenaka is tasked with operating the water system in the two islands.
Discussions have now been held with Ministry of Environment and Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC). Fenaka revealed MWSC has agreed to provide tools to assess the water.
Speaking to PSM News, Fenaka said technical teams of the corporation will arrive in the islands today to prepare the systems for operation. Fenaka assured to begin providing clean water to Hoarafushi and Hanimaadhoo from Thursday onwards.
Once the systems begin operation, the residents of the island will receive water 24 hours without interruption. Fenaka said water will be assessed every day and permanent water testing systems will be established within the upcoming month.
