Ministry of Health has decided to develop specialised tertiary hospitals in five parts of the country.
Speaking at a press conference held at President's Office, Health Minister Ameen said the government will develop ten hospitals across the country, while five hospitals will be sepcialised for different diseases. In this regard, Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, Raa Ungoofaaru Regional Hospital, Laamu Gan Regional Hospital, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital and Addu City Hithadhoo Regional Hospital will be sepcialised for different diseases.
The health minister said hospitals in the north will be specialised for thalassemia, while the hospitals in the south will be specialised for heart diseases. He stated the aim of the administration is to minimise the travel of the citizens to the capital city for medical purpose.
The government has expressed plans to bring sustainable and revolutionary changes to the health sector, while the highest priority is attached in improving health services in the atolls.
