Ministry of Economic Development, in collaboration with International Labour Organisation (ILO), has organised and launched a workshop on minimum wage.
Economic ministry said ILO wage specialists will be delivering presentations for setting a road map for minimum wage for Maldives during the three-day workshop.
The workshop is aimed to aware the relevant stakeholders on establishing a minimum wage in Maldives. The first day of the workshop was for data collecting authorities, including National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). The second day was targeted for Special Advisory Board. The last day of the workshop will be specialised for stakeholders, including employees and employers.
Establishing a minimum wage is an electoral pledge of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. As part of the efforts, the president has also formed a minimum wage board to facilitate the administration to achieve the pledge.
