Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure assigns Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to construct harbours in Komandoo and Maabaidhoo. The agreement of the ventures was signed by Director General of Planning Ministry Fathimath Shana Farooq the COO of MTCC Shahid Hussain Moosa.
The project to construct Komandoo harbour was contracted to be completed within one year. Under the agreement, the construction of the harbour will consist of dredging and excavation along with construction of a 12-metre long breakwater, 20 meter long of revetment, and a 190-metre key wall. The agreement also consists of the construction of an 11-metre by 11-metre ramp, interlocking pavements, instalment of 10 mooring blocks, 2 navigational masts and 19 harbour lights. The project is estimated to cost USD 2 million.
Meanwhile, the project to construct harbour in Maabaidhoo is contracted to complete within 120 days. Under the agreement, the construction of the harbour will consist of the construction of a 204-metre-long breakwater, 74-metre-long revetment, and two harbour lights. The project is estimated to cost USD 1.066 million.
MTCC said it expects to complete the projects and handover before the deadlines.
