The state has received USD 12 million as Airport Development Fee (ADF) in the second quarter of the year. The amount is 4.7% of the total revenue received by the state in the second quarter.
ADF is levied on passengers departing from Velana International Airport (VIA) at a rate of USD 25 per foreign passenger and USD 12 per Maldivian passenger. Only passengers with diplomatic immunity are exempt from ADF.
The USD 12 million was received as ADF in the second quarter this year is an increase of 16.5% compared to the USD 10 million received in the same period of last year, according to statistics of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA).
Maldives began collecting ADF in May 2017 as a revenue boosting measure.
