The revenue from goods imported and exported in July this year has increased compared to the same month of the previous year.
Revenue from goods imported and exported stood at USD 18.138 million in July last year, while the amount increased to USD 18.525 million which is an increase of 2 percent, according to the statistics of Maldives Customs Service.
Although the revenue from imports and exports increased, the Cost, Insurance and Freight (CIF) value of imported goods decreased by 9 percent in July this year compared to the same month of last year. Statistics showed in July last year, goods worth USD 264.65 million were imported while the amount decreased to USD 238.831 million this July.
In July this year, most number of goods were imported to Maldives from UAE, which amounted to 21 percent of the total imports. Meanwhile, Singapore and India held 13 percent and 11 percent of the total imports respectively.
Furthermore, most number of exports from Maldives in July were to Thailand, which was 18 percent of the total exports. 15 percent of the exports was to Germany, while France also held the same amount. 13 percent and 7 percent of the total exports was to the UK and Italy respectively.
