President congratulates MRC for providing remarkable humanitarian services

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) for providing remarkable humanitarian services for the past 10 years.

In a tweet posted commemorating the 10th anniversary of Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC), President Solih expressed the work of the organisation across Maldives to build resilient communities, adding the efforts have been exemplary. The president thanked all volunteers for their timely and reliable services to those in need, in line with the principles of humanity.

MRC is an independent, voluntary, humanitarian organisation, established in 2009. Its primary objective is to provide humanitarian aid, prevent and alleviate human suffering.

It is the 187th member of the world's largest humanitarian movement, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which every year helps millions of people whose lives have been devastated by crises or conflict.

MRC provides voluntary services in incidents of accidents and natural disasters among others. To date MRC has 2,440 volunteers in 10 branches and 20 units spanning across Maldives.
