Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has revealed the administration has decided to establish separate policies for foreign investors wishing to do business in Maldives.
Addressing the Bidders' Symposium, Economic Minister Fayyaz said many foreign contractors are working in the construction sector, adding they are not properly regulated. Noting efforts have begun to find a solution for the matter, the minister revealed priority is given to establish certain policies for foreign investors clarifying the limits they can operate. In this regard, he said the policies will benefit Maldivian contractors in the sector.
Further, the economic minister spoke on the importance in introducing more Maldivians to the working sector. He noted importance will be given to reduce the number of foreigners in the sector and to conduct skill development projects for Maldivians.
