Ministry of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has revealed the decision to provide bidding opportunity for small scale construction projects initiated by the administration to local companies only. The finance minister made the remarks at the first ever Bidders' Symposium held in Maldives.
Addressing the ceremony, Finance Minister Ameer said issues faced for bidders in tendering process will be identified during the symposium, encouraging relevant authorities to find a solution for the issues. The minister expressed it has been decided to bring changes to the bidding process as part of the efforts to develop small and medium sized businesses. In this regard, he revealed bidding opportunity will be given only to local companies in small scale construction projects.
The finance minister noted changes which can be brought to Public Finance Act will also be identified to solve issues faced by bidders. He further mentioned an independent institution to oversee issues faced by bidders has been established.
