Ministry of Finance has included USD 12.225 million in the supplementary budget to provide subsidies for state-owned enterprises.
The ministry has allocated funds from the supplementary budget for Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL), Male' Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MWSC) and State Electric Company Limited (STELCO). USD 8.391 million would be provided to MWSC as revenue loss and USD 2.259 million would be provided to IASL to subsidise the domestic airfare which was decreased as per the electoral pledge of the administration, according to the ministry. A further USD 1.549 million was allocated to STELCO to assistance in subsiding electricity prices for the citizens.
The government has proposed an additional USD 110 million to be included in the state budget for 2019.
