Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with members of the Thaa Atoll Council.
During the meeting held at the President's Office, the councillors provided Vice President Naseem an overview of their concerns and listed the most frequently cited issues raised by their constituents. The councillors spoke on the need to resolve staffing and remuneration issues in the atoll's healthcare centres, as well as ensuring that their quality is standardised across the region; empowering women's development committees, especially with regard to facilitating their ability to register and operate business ventures; and also on the need to improve ferry services for connectivity between the islands in the atoll.
The vice president noted health, decentralisation and transport policies are intended to resolve the very concerns the councillors have raised and that as the provisions contained in the polices of the administration become manifest, they will ameliorate these recurrent problems. With regard to individual delays and unresolved issues, he expressed these would be taken up with relevant ministries to ensure they are given due attention.
