Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has said the biggest achievement of the 4th South Asian Speakers' Summit will be the identification and development of legal framework required for democratic good governance and getting these frameworks passed by the parliaments in the region.
Speaking to media before leaving for Bandos Island Resort to join a dinner reception hosted in honour of the participants of the summit, Speaker Nasheed stated all the bills forwarded to the parliament and observed solutions must be aimed at attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The summit is an important platform to discuss future measures and enables dialogue amongst countries and helps identify and benefit from all participating countries in their approach to attaining SDGs.
SDGs are a blueprint of actions adopted by the member states of the United Nations in 2015 to achieve certain goals by the year 2030, which is one of the key areas for discussion in the summit this year.
The summit is participated by senior officials from all SAARC nations.
