Fenaka Corporation Limited has said the power cuts in Addu City will be fully solved within two days, although electricity has been restored to all areas of the second most populous area in the country.
On Sunday, the linked islands of the city experienced power blackouts for long hours. Fenaka said the city plunged into darkness after the distribution network supplying to the area was faced with faulty issues. The state-owned company said two electrical engineers were dispatched to the area and power was restored in the early hours of Monday morning.
The mayor of Addu City said in a tweet that people of the city has incurred some loss due to power failure and requested the authorities to find a permanent solution to the problem.
The people in Addu City have expressed concern that just one single regional power house is being used to supply electricity to the whole city and in case of a problem faced by any device the most populated areas of Gan and Hithadhoo have to bear the brunt of the problem.
