Maldives and China sign on cooperation agreements

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi have signed three Memoranda of Understanding between Maldives and China during a ceremony held in Beijing.

The agreements that were signed were Memorandum of Understanding Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives on Strengthening Cooperation, Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Maldives and the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Agreement on the Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Maldives.

Minister Shahid stated the agreements aim to further strengthen the close bilateral ties that currently exist between China and Maldives.

The agreement on foreign affairs will further enhance cooperation and coordination between the two countries on bilateral and multilateral issues and increase the exchange of views between the two ministries.
