Land plot handed over to construct a new Chinese chancery building in Maldives

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has handed over the land plot to construct a new Chinese chancery building in Maldives.

During a function held at the foreign ministry, the document for the new chancery building was handed over by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid to Ambassador of China to Maldives Zhang Lizhong.

The Government of Maldives has decided not to develop any new government office buildings in the capital, Male' City. In this regard, a 30,000 square feet area has been allocated from Hulhumale' to develop foreign embassies and missions.

So far, land plots from the Hulhumale' Diplomatic Enclave has been provided for India and Sri Lanka, in addition to China. Although a land plot for Saudi Arabia has been provided from Hulhumale’ by the previous administration, it is not included in the Hulhumale' Diplomatic Enclave.
