MHCL allocates 5% of quota to ailing patients

Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited (MHCL) has decided to allocate 5% of the quota to patients with severe forms of illnesses.

The new regulation has been introduced under reforms of the terms of services and therefore patients who are terminally ill would be given the opportunity to apply for the allocated 5% quota. The patients who apply to travel for Hajj under the quota must present written documents related to the type of illnesses issued by medical institutions. The placements would be given accordingly for patients who apply first and MHCL can decide to allow one or two attendants to travel with the patient.

The newly introduced reforms also allow public and private companies registered in Maldives to join MHCL to allow employees to perform Hajj by certain payment methods. Such companies must have not less than 10 Maldivians as staff and should have a year passed after registration under the Companies Act of Maldives.

The clients of the registered companies must have 75% of the cost amount paid to be eligible to travel for Hajj.
