President congratulates Saaid on winning gold at SAG

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has congratulated sprinter Hassan Saaid on winning the country’s first ever gold medal at the South Asian Games.

Tweeting after Saaid won gold in the 100 meters running event of the ongoing South Asian Games in Nepal, President Solih said he was very proud of Saaid’s achievement and asked him to keep up the excellent work.

Saaid finished the 100 meter race in 10.49 seconds, ahead of Sri Lankan sprinter Himasha Eashan who finished the race in 10.50 seconds. Saaid had won silver medal in the 100 meter running event during the 2016 South Asian Games, where he finished behind Eashan.

Saaid was also the first Maldivian to win a gold medal at any multi-sport event when he won the gold medal in 100 meter running during the 2015 Indian Ocean Island Games.
