The central powerhouse in Hithadhoo, Addu City provides electricity across Hithadhoo, Maradhoo, Maradhoo-feydhoo, Feydhoo and Gan. The capacity of the powerhouse will improve to 10.5 megawatts with the installation of the two new generators.

The development of the facility has been contracted to Dongfang Electric International Corporation of China for USD 2.4 million. The administration has stated the facility will provide electricity to the five connected wards of Addu City for the next 15 years without any major issues.
