HPA screens passengers from 3 cruise ships

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed it has screened crew members and passengers of 3 cruise ships docked in Male' region for coronavirus (COVID-19).

HPA stated it screened a total of 4,594 on board the 3 cruise ships. The agency first screened 2,460 people onboard MS Costa Vitoria which arrived in Maldives on February 20. It later screened 341 passengers and 643 crew members aboard MS Marco Polo.

HPA also screened 399 passengers and 635 crew members who arrived in Maldives aboard Nautica. According to HPA, no one tested was required to be quarantined.

The government has taken various measures to mitigate the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19) across the globe. The measures include installation of thermal cameras in airports and seaports, and isolating suspected individuals at a quarantine facility.

Additionally, coronavirus testing arrangements have also been made in the state-run Indra Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) with the assistance of World Health Organisation (WHO).
