Ministry of Islamic Affairs has released funds worth USD 64,459 to Male’ City Council for the renovation of three mosques.
The financial agreement of the renovation was signed by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir and Secretary-General of Male’ City Council Ahmed Shareef. The mosques listed for renovation under the agreement are Masjid Al-Shaheed Ali, Masjid Al-Furqan and Masjid Al-Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.
During the signing ceremony, Minister Zahir stated the finances released to Male’ City Council were from the Mosque Fund. Noting the month of Ramadan is fast approaching, the minister expressed hope the renovation of all three mosques would be completed before Ramadan.
Last year, the Islamic ministry handed over the maintenance of mosques and cemeteries in Male’ to the city council. A special committee has been formed by the city council to oversee the maintenance of mosques and cemeteries in Male’.
