MPS brings in advanced equipment to be used in drug operations

Maldives Police Service (MPS) has brought in advanced equipment for use in drug operations.

The equipment were officially handed over to the Drug Enforcement Department of MPS by Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed. The equipment brought in by MPS includes hydraulic equipment and machinery to drill through walls.

The commissioner tweeted the equipment will enable operational efficiency and effectiveness in high risk and challenging environments. He noted the equipment would provide easy access to high security drug dealing houses during operations.

MPS states houses used for drug dealing are usually equipped with high security locks and gates. The police have conducted several successful drug operations, apprehending a large number of drug dealers and users.
