Food items to be controlled if difficulty is faced in importing

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has stated the sale of food items will be controlled in a situation difficulties are faced in importing food items to Maldives.

Speaking to media about the changes to the supply chain of Maldives following the rapid increase of COVID-19 cases globally, the economic minister said no changes were brought to the prices of food items in Maldives. The minister assured there are no difficulties in buying food items, ensuring food items will be available to all citizens without any interruption.

While the situation of COVID-19 worsens globally, Maldives has issued a yellow alert following the detection of the virus in the country. The economic minister advised all individuals to refrain from stocking goods in households.
