Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has contracted the landscaping of the newly developed housing units in Hithadhoo in Addu City and Thinadhoo in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll to Road Development Corporation (RDC).
The landscaping agreement was signed by Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development Mohamed Haalis and Senior Manager of RDC Hassan Yasir. Speaking at the function, the deputy minister said it is of utmost importance to the ministry to complete the work as soon as possible, noting the project could not be completed last year as budget had not been allocated. He said the landscaping will create a pleasant environment depicting island life which includes parks, pubic areas.
The function was attended by parliamentarians Ibrahim Nazil and Abdul Mughnee who highlighted the project will solve housing issues faced by the two communities.
The USD 305,063 project in Thinadhoo will involve completing the landscaping of the 264 housing units within 120 days. Landscaping of 120 housing units in Hithadhoo was contracted to complete in 180 days at a cost of USD 345,575.
