Fifth Maldivian tests positive for COVID-19

A fifth Maldivian has tested positive for COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) stated a local who travelled from the Philippines has tested positive for COVID-19 while in quarantine in Eriyadu Quarantine Facility. HPA said the person has now been transferred to an isolation facility.

In total, 20 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives, with five patients currently undergoing treatment. They include 4 Maldivians who tested positive for COVID-19 upon return from the UK. HPA revealed no extraordinary health issues have been seen from patients undergoing treatment.

Two other foreigners who contracted COVID-19 while in the Maldives are undergoing treatment abroad. HPA has declared 13 patients have made full recoveries after receiving treatment in the Maldives.
